Functions of the Research and Development Department at Pakistan Business Council and Industries (PBCI):

  1. Managing Standing Committees: Organizing and overseeing Standing Committees focused on various important sectors of the economy and industry. These committees discuss sector-level issues, which are then addressed with relevant government departments.
  2. Research and Development Activities: Conducting a diverse range of research and development activities, including policy advocacy, generating research reports, creating trade briefs, developing presentations, crafting country profiles, and formulating economic reform agendas.
  3. Budget Proposal Compilation: Compiling proposals for the federal budget and submitting them to the pertinent government departments.
  4. International Liaison: Collaborating with international development agencies, as well as federal and provincial government departments, to address micro and macroeconomic issues at the sector level.
  5. Event Management: Organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, awareness sessions, and training programs for the benefit of members.
  6. Policy Feedback: Providing feedback to the government on various public policies, including monetary policy, budgets, provincial growth strategy, trade policy, and industrial policy.
  7. Speech Preparation: Drafting speeches for Lahore Business Council and Industries’ office bearers.
  8. Member Support: Offering feedback to members regarding their business queries and facilitating the resolution of business-specific disputes through the Mediation Centre.
  9. Trade Promotion: Highlighting opportunities for enhancing bilateral trade in meetings with different foreign diplomats and delegates, arranging B2B meetings with foreign delegations, and resolving business-specific disputes through the Mediation Centre.
  10. Industry-Academia Linkage: Initiating initiatives to promote industry-academia linkage, including forming MOUs with leading academic institutes and collaborating on joint training programs and awareness sessions.
  11. Market Information Dissemination: Apprising members about export potential in the African market through the Africa Desk.
  12. Export Facilitation: Providing information to members about export and import procedures through the Export Facilitation Centre.
  13. Women Entrepreneurs Support: Facilitating the capacity building of women entrepreneurs through the Women Resource Centre.

Note: The changes made include replacing “PBCI” with “Pakistan Business Council and Industries (PBCI)” and adjusting the language accordingly.
